Bye Brassy Hair
I definitely put the shampoo back in the bottle
MATRIX TOTAL RESULTS SO SILVER SHAMPOO
Whether you’ve done an all over bleach, just a few highlights, or you're a natural blonde, purple shampoo will change your life. It helps cancel out the awful brass and straw yellow tones, that slowly creep in and ruin your aesthetic. (PS if you live somewhere with hard water, check here, the effects of brassiness are amplified.)
8/10 recommend, this shampoo is good but I’m still curious to try other options, you can get it for $13 at Ulta
WHY I LOVE IT
- Immediate results
- I use it almost every time I wash my hair and it doesn’t dry it out like some purple shampoos do
WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW
- It’s concentrated and if you leave it on your hair too long you’ll have a purple tint (don't panic, it goes away)
- Sometimes I mix it with my shampoo, but usually I wash my hair with regular shampoo first and then with the purple shampoo. They recommend leaving it in for 3-5 minutes for maximum results, this is an accurate recommendation and I usually leave it while shaving my legs and washing my body.
CONS
- It has sulfate in it :/
- I think the purple could be even more concentrated, and the shampoo itself isn’t very thick
BUDGET ALTERNATIVE: My first venture into purple shampoo was with drugstore favorite John FrIeda Color Renew Tone-Correcting Shampoo ($6.99), this product also works well and is a great option if you’re curious about purple shampoo and/or on a budget. BUT, the purple isn’t as concentrated as Matrix and you can’t use it every time you wash because it will dry out your hair.
This is my friend Lexi before and after using John FrIeda Color Renew. It looks like she got new highlights!
