when I finally wash my hair, and when I don't
Shampoo, Conditioner and my Holy Grail AKA Dry Shampoo
+SHAMPOO: PUREOLOGY PERFECT 4 PLATINUM
I bought this upon the recommendation of my stylist right after she bleached my hair for the first time. I use this and Pureology Hydrate Conditioner together. 10/10 recommend, especially for all my platinum friends out there (Buy it at Ulta for $28)
WHAT I LOVE
- It has a blue tint to it, which is great for maintaining your tone
- The formula is so concentrated, even with long hair you only need about a dime size of shampoo
- It’s specifically made for hair with high levels of lift, which is exactly what I need
- Smells like salon quality if you know what I mean (aka smells amazing, you’ll feel fancy)
WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW
- I’ve had the same 8.5 oz bottle for 8 months now, and it’s about halfway gone. Since bleaching my hair I usually go 5 days between washes.
- This is specifically for Color treated hair with 4 or more levels of lift
- Zero sulfate and 100% vegan ingredients
- Features their AntiFade Complex (I tried to figure out ~exactly what this is but Pureology's website doesn’t seem to say)
CONS
- Sometimes I feel like I need to wash-rinse-repeat to really clean my hair, I’m sure this is more a of a me problem vs. the shampoo itself
- It’s shampoo that costs more than $20...
I used your basic Suave and TRESSeme shampoo until I came to college. When I started buying my own shampoo I wanted to try different things, but have yet to find something I totally ~love, don't get me wrong Pureology is great but I want an option that's not $20+ so if you know of one leave a comment!
+CONDITIONER: PUREOLOGY HYDRATE
I bought this together with the Perfect 4 Platinum Shampoo right after I bleached my hair. I’m impressed with the shampoo but I really love this conditioner 10/10 recommend (Buy it at Ulta for $30)
WHY I LOVE IT
- Okay first the smell, it’s minty and clean and has fancy salon smell all over it
- It really works, every time I wash my hair it leaves it silky and so soft, not the typical bleached/straw feeling that you might be at risk for as a fake blonde
- I can leave it in my hair and it doesn’t weigh it down or make it greasy
- It's very concentrated so you don’t need to use a lot
WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW
- It recommends leaving it in your hair for a couple minutes before washing out. I typically put it in my hair and don’t wash it out at all haha (I don’t put conditioner on my roots)
- I’ve had the same 8.5 oz bottle for 8 months now, and it’s about halfway gone. Since bleaching my hair I usually go 5 days between washes.
- For dry color treated hair
- AntiFade Complex and 100% Vegan ingredients
CONS
- Sometimes I squeeze out too much and that sucks because it ain’t cheep
BUDGET ALTERNATIVES: When it comes to hydrating your hair two other conditioners I love are Suave Professionals Coconut Oil Infusion Damage Repair ($4.99) and OGX Coconut Milk ($5.79). Both are color safe, left my hair feeling silky soft without weighing it down, and they both smell like coconut, so it's a win-win 10/10 recommend.
+DRY SHAMPOO: SUAVE PROFESSIONALS MOROCCAN INFUSION
Dry shampoo, one of my holy grails, and greatest discoveries because ain’t nobody got time to wash their hair everyday. I’ve tried TRESSemme, Dove and Herbal Essences but I go back to Suave every time, 10/10 recommend. (You can purchase it for about $4.50 from Target, CVS, Walmart etc.)
WHY I LOVE IT
- It works
- It doesn’t leave behind unnecessary residue weighing my hair down
- Smells amazing
WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW
- Suave has several different dry shampoos that all work the same for me. This one is my favorite because of the smell.
- IMO dry shampoo works best when it’s applied the night before or let it sit before you massage it in or brush it through your hair
CONS
- I’ve only tried drugstore brands of dry shampoo so maybe I’m missing something even better, but it’s a great price and it works, so I’ll continue to buy two bottles at a time
