A 5 minute Makeup Routine

Not a professional, but having a good time

I went through the middle school sloppy eyeshadow phase, realized that looked terrible and then only felt comfortable using eyeliner and mascara.

I heard the gossip that circulated around girls who used too much bronzer or caked their face with foundation (teenagers are in fact monsters). So I figured better safe then sorry and avoid it all together. Not to mention my terrible acne had me terrified of foundation soaking into my pores.

It wasn't until college that I even attempted to use face makeup and it wasn't until very recently that I branched out into the world of highlighters, bronzers and failed attempts at contouring. By no means am I an expert, but I love it!

So if you're like me and have ever felt intimidated by makeup, or maybe your just looking for something new, this is my go-to 5 minute morning routine. (Number five is my favorite step!)

Moisturizer and Sunscreen. My long time favorite is Neutrogena Oil-Free with SPF 15. If I'm going to be outside for the majority of the day I'll also use this sunscreen.

Currently I use No. 7 Stay Perfect in Warm Ivory ($14.39) and I apply it with a flat top makeup brush with tightly packed bristles. I have no idea where I got this brush, but you can get something similar on Amazon for $10 .

Okay, I LOVE THIS STUFF. On days when I'm running late or don't feel like foundation I'll just use this and it really does a great job in smoothing things out. Maybelline Shine Free Oil-Control lose powder in Medium ($5) See photos below for the difference.

I use primer about 50% of the time, it especially helps when my pores have decided to be huge. Currently I'm using NYX Pore Filler ($14), I've also used ELF Mineral Face ($5), I'm not really passionate about either one but they seem to do a decent job.

I use both of these. Revlon PhotoReady in Light ($6.60) this is actually a little too light for me, but I really love the product, it's creamy (a word I now can only hear in Kim K's voice) and wears well. A supposed dupe for Tarte's Shape Tape is Maybelline's FIT Me concealer ($5.30), I use No. 10 in Light. I've never used Shape Tape but I can say this is a quality concealer and a little goes a long way.

Mascara! If you've read this blog you know how I feel about drugstore mascara. For the past year my favorite has been Maybelline Lash Senstional, but MOVE OVER because L'Oreal's Voluminous Lash Paradise ($9) is INCREDIBLE and supposedly a dupe for Better Than Sex by TooFaced.

Who doesn't love before and afters? Sorry I can't look at the camera when I take these photos. Also that zit was HUGE and I thought for sure I wouldn't be able to cover it up but makeup is amazing. And I know it's probably a crime but I don't do my eyebrows everyday, but I do always comb them.

What's your routine?

No makeup

Only foundation

After! (Note how the setting powder really did get rid of the shine, mascara in this photo is Lash Sensational)

(P.S. I've noticed recently that my upper lip is discolored? It's not hair because I had just plucked all those out, so if anyone has any advice, please advise.)
